About the event
Fall Freedom Fridays 12 Week Series:
Fall Freedom Fridays is a full-day, pottery and cooking based homeschool enrichment program at Firefly Valley Pottery Studio in West Asheville, NC. This Fall will focus on a ceramic handbuilding project in the morning that corresponds with a cooking or gardening project in the afternoon. For example, we will make ceramic lemon squeezers in the morning and then make lemonade or salad dressing with lemon juice in the afternoon. Vegetarian and gluten free options will always be available. Participants will also have, as always, individual wheel throwing lessons in the afternoon with an instructor in addition to the handbuilding class. This will be almost entirely outdoors, with an indoor studio space available in colder/wet weather or lightening/high winds. We also have a 500 square foot outdoor art pavilion that is covered for rain and sun. We have a 22 lb hypoallergenic therapy dog that is part of our program named Oscar as well. New this Fall: Older students will be given the opportunity to work on the wheel independently in the afternoon if they wish. Cooking, nature play, gardening and fiber arts will be included in Freedom Fridays. Our twelve weeks together will end in a beautiful art show!
